Vains + Schubert + Chamberlain: Bruch, JS Bach, Yu, Glinka & Zemlinsky

1 May @ 18:30 - 20:00

$35 – $45

Fit for Melbourne's lingering Autumn, three Melbourne-based musicians have devised a glowing Musical Flower-Garden program, ranging from the Romantic exuberance and beauty of Bruch and Glinka (as reimagined by acclaimed Australian composer Julian Yu), through the declamatory, deeply-felt rhetorical dialogue of J S Bach, to the brooding intensity and fin-de-siècle energy of Viennese composer Alexander Zemlinsky (1871 - 1942).

Hear acclaimed Australian cellist Josephine Vains, whose multi-faceted career has taken her to concert stages throughout Europe, North America, Asia, the Caribbean and Australia, distinguished clarinettist Robert Schubert, who has held positions as Principal Clarinet with the Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa, Japan, and Lecturer in Woodwind at the Victorian College of the Arts and the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, with Team of Pianists partner Robert Chamberlain at the piano.

Two performances plus a livestream.
