One of Mozart’s best-loved church works, the Krönungsmesse in C major was first performed at the coronation of Francis II as Holy Roman Emperor in 1792. Written near the end of his Salzburg career, it became the preferred music for royal coronations, as well as services of thanksgiving, including the celebration of Christmas. It is full of wonder and glory and majesty - just perfect for Christmas!
