Vanessa Sharman is an Australian classical pianist, who has an avid interest in contemporary music and forging creative relationships with composers. Most recently, Vanessa performed at the 10 Days on the Island Festival in Tasmania, with members of the TSO and Soprano Christine Douglas and Bass Douglas McNicol, the new Chamber Opera Memento Mori by Don Kay.
The Australian Lullaby project explores the notion of the Lullaby for solo piano. After several chaotic years, it seemed the right time to extend an invitation to composers to write a short, reflective piece for piano. These disparate and yet soothing pieces are to be recorded by the Tall Poppies Label under Belinda Webster next year. Vanessa will reflect the tonalities in the music with the addition of coloured lighting heightening the experience for the listener.
