Narroway + Jones + Wong: Schubert, Schumann, Brahms & Weber

Tue 5 March @ 19:30 - 21:00

Free

GREAT GERMAN ROMANTICS

The program is an exploration into the wonderful romantic repertoire of the 19th century and pivots around the famous trio for flute, cello, and piano, Opus 63 by Carl Maria von Weber which will conclude the performance. We know that Weber had a great interest in writing for wind instruments, particularly the clarinet, and so here, Weber diverts us from the usual configuration of the piano trio with the flute taking over the violin line. The first movement is a wonderful example of the dramatic and romantic operatic style. In addition, the Hungarian Dance No. 1 in G minor by Brahms will be performed on the cello by Richard Narroway with Jerry Wong's piano, alongside a beautiful arrangement of the Schumann Romances, Opus 94 also on cello and piano. Finally, the fascinating Introduction and Variations on "Trockne Blumen" by Schubert will be performed by Derek Jones, flute and Jerry Wong.
