THE DRAMATIC AND CHARACTERFUL TROMBONE

Jeremy Mazurek (WA) trombone
Louisa Breen(Associate Faculty) piano

"The program opens with the stirring emotions of Brahms' cello sonata, transcribed for the trombone, captivating listeners with its rich melodies and poignant harmonies. William Bolcom's trombone concerto follows, a dynamic display of virtuosity and rhythmic complexity, demonstrating the trombones prowess as a solo instrument. Aaron Wyatt's new work, "Lux Aeterna", for trombone and live electronics, offers a moment of introspection and ethereal beauty, transporting listeners to a realm of serene tranquility. Finally, the unexpected delight of Strauss II's "Die Fledermaus" Overture, arranged for trombone, trumpet, and piano, injects a dash of whimsy and humour into the recital, leaving the audience exhilarated and uplifted. This recital program is a celebration of the trombones versatility and potential, offering a unique and memorable experience for all who attend."
