In this recital, Tristan Lee presents some of Liszt's most evocative large-scale piano works. Combining the Deux légendes with the mighty Sonata in B minor, this programme explores both the highly programmatic and abstract ways in which Liszt creates his unique sense of musical narrative.
This recital programme continues on from Tristan's PhD, 'Liszt as interpreter of Beethoven's piano sonatas: adopting aspects of an historical approach to contemporary piano performance', as well as connecting to the current research Tristan is doing on Liszt's pedagogical approach and his impact on 19th-Century performance practice.
