Halloran + Green: Schumann & Frances-Hoad

Robert Schumann’s beloved song cycle Frauenliebe und Leben (A Woman’s Life and Love) a setting of Chamisso’s poetry is a staple of romantic repertoire for soprano and piano.

In answer to this work, renowned emerging British composer Cheryl Frances-Hoad, collaborated with crime novelist and poet Sophie Hannah to develop a contemporary response to Chamisso’s verses. The result is One Life Stand, a kaleidoscopic and beautifully engaging cycle.

Antoinette Halloran and Coady Green present both cycles together as a unique concert experience.
