Ensemble Volante: Redmond

14 July @ 20:30 - 22:00

$24 – $44

Ensemble Volante present Regermination: a joyful and cathartic dedication to the boundless landscapes and iconic birdlife of Australia. Six glorious contemporary art songs and a solo piano piece celebrate the deep connection to nature and the restorative, consoling effect it has on the troubled mind.

Conceived in isolation, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the music seeks to find a remedy for loneliness through mindful observation of the natural world around us. It is Ensemble Volante’s intention to take the listener on a journey where they can find solace, calm, and most of all, heartfelt hope for the future within a turbulent, ever-changing world.

Program highlights include ‘Leaving the Nest’, a song cycle devoted to some of Australia’s most quintessential birdlife, and ‘Grand Ridge’, an ode to the famous road that winds its way through Gippsland. Each art song features the powerful poetic words of lyricist Grazia Marin, soaring melodies sung by rapturous soprano Piera Dennerstein, alongside the striking yet sensitive piano refrains from composer and pianist Alisha Redmond.
