Duo Eclettico + Onus: Hammond & Kouvaras

Montsalvat presents Of Birds and Monuments, performed by internationally award-winning artists, Coady Green (piano), Justin Kenealy (saxophone) and Yorta Yorta man Tiriki Onus (narrator). They present works by renowned Melbourne composers based upon stories from Indigenous texts prepared by Tiriki Onus and N’arweet Carolyn Briggs AM.

The concert features Coady Green playing two piano works by Melbourne composer Linda Kouvaras, followed by Duo Eclettico performing Jane Hammond’s award-winning Songs of the Helmeted Honeyeater for piano, soprano saxophone, film, and narrator. The work tells the story of the plight of Victoria’s critically endangered Helmeted Honeyeater bird, and the work of the local conservationists to save the species. Tiriki Onus narrates text by renowned director, writer, and producer Theresa Borg, and the music is accompanied by a stunning new film by Angus Hamilton.
