ANAM Prizewinners: Crespo, Duncan, Cangelosi, Svoboda & Piazzolla
8 November 2022 @ 18:00 - 19:00$30 – $37
In a program showcasing excellence in current and former musicians from the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM), recent alumnus and winner of the 2021 ANAM Directors’ Prize, Alexander Meagher (percussion), joins forces with current ANAM musician and recipient of the Nick Deutsch Encouragement Award for a 1st year musician, Will Kinmont (trombone).
Celebrating two of the biggest sounds in the orchestra, the trombone and percussion, the program places them in rarely heard chamber music combinations and demonstrates the full gamut of dramatic expression.
Works by Enrique Crespo, Eve Duncan, Casey Cangelosi and Mike Svoboda travel through encounters with the inspired, the paranormal and the divine, before arriving in the familiar sounds of Astor Piazzolla’s Invierno Porteño Winter in Buenos Aires, arranged for trio of trombone, percussion and piano.
