Continuo turns four!

Continuo Community came into being on 7 July 2021. The website was up by mid-July, the first Continuo Connect newsletter was sent on 29 July. Since then we’ve achieved all our original goals. We have

  • listed thousands of concerts (around 900 every year),
  • sent hundreds of Continuo Connect newsletters with information about upcoming concerts and the chamber music scene,
  • commissioned four new chamber works by Victoria-based composers, and
  • created four Continuo Commissioning Circles to fund these commissions.

AND THERE’S MORE…

We have exciting plans for for expanding the scope of our support for chamber music in our fifth year. These include:

  • Setting up a Founders’ Fund, which will provide financial support for chamber music projects and activities in addition to commissioning.
  • Auspicing – assisting ensembles and composers to apply for grant funding that is only open to registered charities.
  • Advertising and promoting fundraising activities from ensembles, composers and other organisations.
  • Providing statistical data about chamber-music related activity in Victoria for anyone lobbying government or applying to philanthropic organisations.
  • Adding a “What’s Out There” page to the Continuo website to list recordings by Vic composers/ensembles, highlighting new releases in the newsletter.
  • Using our network to help artists, audiences and composers make connections with one another.
